October celebrates our 4th anniversary of tothfans.com! And what better way to celebrate than a birthday package loaded with images for the Gallery and a new Tribute? And some fresh things for The Page Of the Day! The Toth proves he still has it in the new millennium as artwork from 2000 thru 2005 will attest. Happy 4 Years! And best wishes to our friend and idol Alex Toth!
The tributes keep rolling in. And from what I have heard, Toth appreciates them!
Scott James sends us a pair of "Toth inspired" illustrations including Toth's famous "Fox" character as well as "Torpedo" in color.
Dave Cook's new Zorro tribute is actually from 2001. Dave says, "The 2001 Zorro sketch was playing off Toth's "mimes" and also having a little fun off the whole topic of Alex and "sound effects".
Jesse Hamm has "mimed" a Toth model sheet of complete with "Tothisms".
And last but not least, D.J. Ellis contributes a "Jesse Bravo" illustration.
Thanks everyone for the fantastic tributes!
Two more new tributes! This week we have added art from Aaron Arocho and Dave Cook.
Aaron's goal was to, "...to pay a small portion back for what he's meant to his admirers. It took me a while to come up with a sketch that served its purpose in paying tribute to Mr. Alex Toth."
Dave Cook's Tribute is a Zorro collaboration between himself and Toth. The story behind it is, "I sent a sketch idea to Alex, he sent back a very faint pencil and said, "Okay, now you finish it..." so what is attached to this is the semi-final result. (I went into it later with an ink wash)He thoroughly approved -- I got a card back saying, "Well done! Kuddos!" which is no mean feat.""
Thanks guys!
Thanks again to everyone who has contributed so far this is becoming a fantastic feature on Tothfans.com. Keep them coming folks.
