Dave Cook, a close personal friend of Alex's, has shared some incredible sketches and drawings from the master himself. These sketches come from Dave's personal correspondences with Alex which were included in letters and drawn on the back of postcards. There are a great variety of subjects and contain several gems, including an awesome Zorro sketch and believe it or not, Alex's interpretation of "Stuart Little"!

I'm sure I represent all of the Toth Fans out there when I say, "Thanks Dave!" See them here.

Check out issue #16 of COMIC BOOK ARTIST magazine for another fine 'Before I Forget" letter. In this issue Alex writes about his work for Atlas/Seaboard comics in the 70's. It includes the true origin of the Toth written-and-drawn "Vanguard" story that appeared in HOT STUFF #4 and reprinted in ALEX TOTH: BLACK AND WHITE.

And just to get you started, I have posted a sketch that Alex did for Atlas/Seaboard Comics which you will not see in this issue! A "Toth Fans" exclusive! (Well sort of...it actually came from an old issue of THE COMICS JOURNAL.).

So pick this issue up at your local comic shop or order it online @TwoMorrows Publishing.

Setting the record straight.

Did anyone see the recent sketch that was up for sale on eBay a few weeks back claiming to be a "Toth self-portrait"? Well, Dave Cook, a personal friend of Alex's, has a keen eye and suspected that it was not true. So in order to set the record straight Dave decided to go right to the source for the answer. Check out Alex's response here.

Plus, keep watching the site for a very special contribution from Dave coming up soon!

Alex Toth Designed Toys?

Yep it's true. Folks may have seen some Space Ghost toys in the past, but believe it or not there are now action figures of the "Space Ghost Sidekicks" .

Do they mean Jan and Jace? How about Blip? Nope! It's the sidekicks from "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast", Brak, Zorak and Moltar.

Is "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" a travesty to Alex's work or a great show? Do these these toys represent over-commercialization or cool collectable? Discuss this in the Toth fans forums.

Another question - can you even call plastic action figures priced at $39.99 "toys"?
